Workshop guests in visors around the sand-casting table

Lo-Fi Sampler

A palm-sized sound recorder with a pewter face you cast yourself.

Workshop · FWB Fest · 2026

At FWB Fest in Idyllwild, California, we ran a three-hour workshop called Sound Foundry. Everyone recorded ten seconds of sound: a voice, a field recording, a secret. Then they made the metal face that holds it.

You carved a pattern, pressed it into sand, and watched Seb pour molten pewter into your mould. Ten seconds later it was solid. Next came the Drill Zone, then assembly, with no soldering needed.
